A proposed agreement between the Capitol and an urban poor association in barangay Apas was placed on hold after the group declined to attend the signing yesterday, citing the complaint they filed in court against the province as basis for their no-show.
"Nibalibad sila sa meeting. Gi advisan kuno sila sa ilang abogado nga dili lang usa makig meet sa atong gobernadora (They begged off from the meeting. They were advised by their lawyer that they shouldn't meet the governor)," said Capitol consultant Rory

AS THE country braces for the official campaign period for the 2010 elections people are becoming increasingly aware of surveys and it seems that whether or not people believe in surveys the fact remains that they will most likely keep an eye on them as some sort of unofficial point of reference vis-à-vis their choices.
For starters, in a nationwide survey conducted by Pulse Asia from Oct. 22-30, 1,800 respondents were asked to choose their presidential and vice-presidential preferences from the list.

Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno, member of the party's national advisory council, said Senate Juan Miguel Zubiri made an inaccurate assessment when he claimed that 30 to 40 percent had left the party to join other political groups.
"I think that's not an accurate assessment. I think it's much, much less than that," said Puno be

WHILE survey results released recently show he has a good chance of becoming the country's next president, Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III still needs to work hard to sustain his popularity and ensure his victory.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile yesterday gave this advice to his colleague who has been consistently topping the surveys.
"The Manny Pacquiao Blog".
Based on my long experience in politics, surveys are good as gauge of possible election victory. But in the end, the political leaders in every community, including cities, and the ward leaders in Cebu, Manila and other parts of the country are the ones who are dictating their followers of whom to support. We don’t even know if the people who favored Noynoy in the survey will vote for him on the election day -Juan Ponce Enrile

The other three steams completed earlier are those of Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas, Joseph Estrada and Jojo Binay and Gilbert Teodoro and Edu Manzano.
Of course, there are also those who still say that they are in the fight, like Bayani Fernando, Eddie Villanueva, Hermogenes Ebdane and others.
But while it's true that these supposed candidates haven't backed out, they have at this point about as much chance of winning as the so-called "small players" in the petroleum industry have of influencing the mark
